Overview

Topic text is the label or content displayed inside a topic on your Mindmup map. You can edit it at any time to correct text, rename an idea, or add more information as your map develops.

Mindmup also provides text formatting options, including Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, font size, lists, and alignment.

Edit the text in a topic

  1. Select the topic you want to edit.
  2. Press Space, or double-click the topic to start editing its text.
  3. Make your changes.
  4. Click outside the topic when you're done.

Add a line break

When editing topic text, press Shift + Enter to add a line break within the same topic. This lets you place text on multiple lines without creating another topic.

Format topic text

You can also change how text appears in a topic. Click the topic to open the quick menu, then use the text formatting options to change the font, size, text color, text style, alignment, or lists.

Example use cases

Editing topic text is useful when you want to:

  • Correct a spelling mistake or typo.
  • Rename a topic as your ideas develop.
  • Add more detail to an existing topic.

  • Emphasize important words or information.
  • Use lists to organize several items within a topic.

Tips

  • Keep topic text concise when possible so your map remains easy to scan.

  • Use formatting selectively to make important information easier to identify.
  • Press Space after selecting a topic when you want a quick way to start editing without using the mouse.
