Fishbone diagrams in Microsoft Teams with Mindmup

You can create fishbone diagrams in Mindmup directly inside Microsoft Teams. Fishbone diagrams were recently added to Mindmup and are now available when working with a Mindmup tab in Teams.

Getting started

You can create a fishbone diagram from a new or existing map.

To switch an existing map to a fishbone layout:

  1. Click the Customize theme icon in the top-left menu.
  2. Select Layout › Fishbone.
  3. Choose the map direction: Left to right or Right to left.

The map updates instantly, so you can continue working without losing any content.

Why use fishbone diagrams in Teams

Fishbone diagrams help teams analyze problems by clearly showing cause-and-effect relationships. They make it easier to explore contributing factors, identify root causes, and structure discussions.

With Mindmup embedded in Microsoft Teams, teams can create, share, and edit fishbone diagrams together in real time—during meetings or ongoing conversations in channels. This keeps collaboration focused, visual, and efficient, all within a familiar workspace.
