Overview
View options help you control how your Mindmup map is displayed while you work. You can fold branches, show or hide visual elements, adjust the zoom, recenter the map, and switch to full-screen view.
You can access these options from the View menu in the Mindmup editor.
Open the View menu
To open the available view options:
- Click the Mindmup icon in the top-left corner.
- Select View.
From the menu, you can choose the view option you need.
Fold and unfold nodes
Folding lets you temporarily hide parts of a map without removing any nodes.
Under Fold/unfold, you can:
- Fold or unfold a subtree.
- Fold one level.
- Unfold one level.
- Fold all nodes.
- Unfold all nodes.
Folding is useful when you want to focus on one part of a large map without deleting or rearranging anything.
Show or hide map elements
The View menu includes options for displaying additional elements on the map.
You can:
- Turn Show grid on or off.
- Turn Auto layout on or off.
- Show or hide comments.
- Show reactions.
- Show collaborator cursors.
You can also use Labels to choose how nodes are numbered. Available options include:
- None
- Sequence by level
- Hierarchical numbers
- Sequential numbers
These options can help you adjust the map to suit the way you are working or presenting information.
Adjust the map view
Use the zoom and view controls when you need to change how much of the map is visible.
- Zoom in to see more detail.
- Zoom out to see more of the map at once.
- Zoom to fit to bring the entire map into view.
- Recenter view to return the map to the center of the workspace.
- Full screen to give the map more space on your screen.
Tips
- Fold branches you are not currently working with to reduce visual clutter.
- Show the grid when you want additional visual guidance while arranging nodes.
- Use Labels when numbering helps readers follow the structure of your map.
- Turn off view options you do not need when you want a cleaner workspace.
- Use Zoom to fit when you want to see the entire map at once.
- Use Full screen when you need more space to work with a large map.
