Working with Google Drive Team Drives
Google Drive introduced Team Drives to make collaboration easier across teams. Mindmup supports working with Team Drives, so you can use Google Drive’s collaboration features alongside your mind maps.
Team Drive support is available for Starter users and Mindmup users. Most features work out of the box—you can create, move, and manage Mindmup files on Team Drives just like any other file type in Google Drive.
Current limitations
At the time of this update, Google had not fully completed third-party support for Team Drives. Because of that, some actions can only be performed from the Google Drive web interface and are not available directly within Mindmup:
- Sharing maps or managing access permissions for maps stored on Team Drives
- Attaching files from Team Drives
- Moving maps into folders on Team Drives
We continue to monitor Google’s progress with Team Drive support. As soon as Google’s sharing and file selection components fully support Team Drives, we’ll integrate those improvements into Mindmup.
Feedback and next steps
Since Team Drives were still evolving at the time, we welcomed feedback on how you were using them (check out Mindmup2 Google discussion group) —especially if there were ways Mindmup workflows could better support collaboration.
