How to Use Guest Pass

Aug 19Features

Guest Pass lets you give people temporary access to a Mindmup map using a shareable link. It is available for Team and Organization accounts and is useful when someone needs to view or edit a map for a limited time.

Anyone with the Guest Pass link can access the map without a Mindmup account. You can choose whether guests can view or edit the map, set access for 1 hour or 1 day, and optionally protect the Guest Pass with a password. The session expires automatically, or you can end it at any time.

Turn on Guest Pass

From the Home dashboard, click the Actions (three-dot) menu next to the map and select Share. If the map is already open, click Share in the top-right corner.

  1. Click Turn on Guest Pass.
  2. Select Anyone can view or Anyone can edit.
  3. Choose whether the Guest Pass should remain active for 1 hour or 1 day.
  4. Enter a password if you want to protect access to the map.
  5. Click Start.
  6. Click Copy link, then send the link to the people you want to give temporary access.

While Guest Pass is active, you can change its settings.

  1. Click Share in the top-right corner.
  2. Find Guest Pass and click Manage.

  • Click End if the collaboration finishes before the Guest Pass expires.
  • For ongoing access, consider inviting people directly, sharing with a team, or using regular link sharing.

Common questions

Should I use Guest Pass or invite someone directly?

Use Guest Pass when someone only needs temporary access to the map. If you want to give a specific person regular access, you can invite them by email and choose whether they Can view or Can edit.

Should I use Guest Pass or regular link sharing?

Guest Pass is useful when access should be temporary or password-protected. Regular link sharing is more appropriate when you want anyone with the link to have view or edit access without setting a one-hour or one-day Guest Pass.

When is Guest Pass useful for group collaboration?

Guest Pass can be useful for short-term activities such as classes, workshops, meetings, or brainstorming sessions where participants need temporary access to the same map.

Can I use Guest Pass for longer-term collaboration?

Guest Pass can be set for 1 hour or 1 day. For ongoing collaboration, consider regular sharing options instead, such as inviting people directly, sharing with a team, or using link sharing.

Why don't I see the Guest Pass option?

Guest Pass is available for Team and Organization accounts. If you are using a Personal account type, the Guest Pass option will not be available.
