Overview
Reactions let you add emojis to your Mindmup map to make information easier to recognize visually. You can use them to mark priorities, show status, highlight important ideas, or add simple visual cues to your map.
Mindmup includes a collection of emojis organized into categories, along with search and frequently used options for finding reactions quickly.
Add a reaction or emoji
To add a reaction:
- Select the node where you want to add a reaction.
- Click the Reactions & emojis icon in the center menu.
- Select an emoji to add it to the node.
For faster access, select a node and press R on your keyboard to open Reactions & emojis.
Find a reaction
The Reactions & emojis menu provides several ways to find the emoji you need.
You can use Search to look for a specific emoji or choose from categories such as:
- Frequently used
- Smileys & people
- Animals & nature
- Food & drink
- Activity
- Travel & places
- Objects
- Symbols
- Flags
Hide reactions on your map
Reactions are shown on your map by default. If you want to hide them:
- Click the Mindmup icon in the top-left corner of the editor.
- Select View.
- Uncheck Show reactions.
You can check Show reactions again whenever you want the reactions to appear on the map.
Example use cases
Reactions can provide quick visual information without adding more text to your nodes. For example, you can use them to:
- Mark important ideas or priorities.
- Identify tasks that need attention.
- Add visual cues to study notes.
- Highlight topics for later review.

Do reactions change the structure of my map?
No. Reactions provide visual information without changing the parent-child relationships between nodes. This makes them useful for highlighting or categorizing information while keeping the existing map structure.
