Mindmup Office 365 Administrator Guide

Dec 18Guides

This guide outlines key information for Office 365 domain administrators whose organizations use Mindmup to create and store maps.

Using Mindmup with an Office 365 account

You can use Mindmup with an Office 365 account in two main ways:

  • Sign in and access maps through the Mindmup web app.
  • Embed a Mindmup tab inside Microsoft Teams.

Mindmup is a cloud-based software-as-a-service solution, so there’s nothing to install. With built-in single sign-on (SSO), Mindmup automates user provisioning and most onboarding tasks.

For detailed onboarding information, see the guide on onboarding organizational users.

Pricing

Mindmup offers several plans depending on how you want to use it.

The Starter plan allows anonymous use with private maps that do not expire. It supports up to five editable maps but does not include collaborative editing, authentication, organizational controls, or Microsoft Teams integration.

With a Mindmup subscription at the Organization level, you can enable:

  • Azure AD / Office 365 single sign-on
  • Microsoft Teams integration
  • Organizational privacy controls (such as preventing sharing outside your organization)
  • Collaborative editing

You can sign up your organization through the organizational subscription page. For personal subscription details, see the Mindmup pricing page.

Installing Mindmup for Teams

Mindmup for Microsoft Teams is available through Microsoft AppSource.

Microsoft Teams integration is included for all Organization subscribers, but it must be explicitly activated because it requires additional security permissions.

For setup instructions, see Sharing with Microsoft Teams page.

Security and privacy

Mindmup stores user documents in Amazon S3 in the us-east-1 region (North Virginia, USA).

  • Data is encrypted in transit.
  • Data created or updated after June 24, 2020 is encrypted at rest.

For detailed technical information, see the Data Security page.

What can Mindmup access on Microsoft Graph?

Mindmup requests limited access to Microsoft Graph to support authentication, collaboration, and sharing:

  • Read-only access to basic profile information (name, email address, verified domains)
  • User ID and Office 365 / Azure AD tenant identifiers for authentication and document access
  • Optional access to Microsoft Teams membership to show available teams for sharing (only if Teams support is enabled by an administrator)

The exact Microsoft Graph scopes requested are:

  • User.Read
  • openid
  • email
  • profile
  • Team.ReadBasic.All (only when Teams support is enabled)
