Overview
If a keyboard shortcut isn't working in Mindmup, the issue may be related to the browser, the key combination you're using, or the current editing mode.
Try the troubleshooting steps below.
Make sure you're using the correct shortcut
Check the Keyboard shortcuts list in Mindmup to confirm that you're using the correct key combination.
Click the Help & resources icon in the bottom-right corner and select Keyboard shortcuts.
You can also press Ctrl + / to open the shortcut list.
Try the macOS equivalent
On macOS, Ctrl and Cmd can both be used for shortcuts marked with Ctrl.
For example, if a shortcut is listed as Ctrl + Z, you can try Cmd + Z on a Mac.
If Cmd + Space doesn't work in your browser, try Ctrl + Space instead.
Check whether you're editing text
Some shortcuts behave differently when you're editing node text.
For example, Shift + Enter inserts a line break when you're editing node text, while it adds a sibling above when you're working with a selected node.
If a shortcut doesn't seem to do what you expect, press Esc to leave text editing and try the shortcut again.
Make sure the map has focus
Click the map or the node you want to work with before using a shortcut.
If your cursor is active in another part of the browser, such as an address bar or another text field, the shortcut may be handled by the browser instead of Mindmup.
Check for browser conflicts
Some browsers may block or intercept certain key combinations.
If a shortcut doesn't work, try another browser to see if the behavior changes.
You can also try an alternative version of the shortcut when one is available. For example, on macOS, try Ctrl instead of Cmd for shortcuts marked with Ctrl.
Try the menu instead
If a shortcut still doesn't work, use the corresponding option from Mindmup's menus or node quick menu.
This can also help determine whether the problem is with the shortcut itself or with the underlying feature.
Refresh the map
If shortcuts that normally work suddenly stop responding, refresh the map and try again.
After refreshing, select a node and test the shortcut again.
Check whether other shortcuts work
Try a few simple shortcuts, such as:
Ctrl + Z — Undo
Ctrl + C — Copy
Ctrl + / — Open keyboard shortcuts
If some shortcuts work but others don't, the problem may be specific to a particular key combination or feature.
