Overview
If your exported PDF looks different from your map, check the PDF export options first. Page size, orientation, background, and image quality can all affect the exported result.
To export your map as a PDF, open the map, click the Mindmup icon at the top-left corner and choose File › Export › PDF.
The PDF is blank
If the exported PDF is completely blank, first export the map again using Fit to map under Page size. This is useful for checking whether the issue is related to the selected page size.
If the PDF is still blank, try Same as map under Background and export again.
Parts of the map do not fit the page
Check Page size.
Select Fit to map if you want the PDF page to accommodate the map. If you need a standard paper size, choose the appropriate format instead. Mindmup supports sizes from A0 through A5, as well as US letter, US legal, and US tabloid.
The map looks cramped or has too much empty space
Check Page size when exporting the PDF.
Try Fit to map if you want the PDF page to accommodate the map. If you need a specific paper size, select the appropriate page format instead.
The PDF background looks wrong
Check Background.
Choose Same as map to use the map's background. Choose White for a plain white background.
Images in the PDF are not clear enough
Check Image quality.
Mindmup provides Optimized and High resolution options. Try High resolution and export the PDF again to see if it produces the image quality you need.
Tips
- Use Fit to map when the map needs to fit naturally on the page.
- Match the page size to the paper you plan to use.
- Choose Same as map when the PDF should retain the map background.
- Choose High resolution when image quality is important.

If your PDF still does not look right after checking the available export options, contact Mindmup support at contact@mindmup.com. Describe what looks wrong in the exported PDF, which export settings you used, and what you expected the PDF to look like. If possible, include the exported PDF so the issue can be investigated.
