How to Search for Maps

Aug 3Features

Overview

As your collection of maps grows, searching becomes the quickest way to find the one you need. Instead of browsing through your entire library, you can search by a map's title to locate it in seconds.

Whether you're managing projects, study notes, or team documents, the Search bar on the Home dashboard helps you quickly find and open the right map.

Search for a map

  1. Go to the Home dashboard.
  2. Click the Search box.
  3. Enter all or part of the map's title.
  4. Matching maps will appear as you type.
  5. Click a map to open it.

Example use cases

Search is useful when you want to:

  • Find a specific project without scrolling through your dashboard.
  • Locate meeting notes by their title.
  • Open a study guide for a particular subject.
  • Find maps you've created for a client or team.
  • Quickly switch between active projects.

Tips

  • Give your maps clear, descriptive titles so they're easier to find later. For example, use "Marketing Plan Q3" instead of "New Map".
  • You don't need to type the full map name. Entering just a few words from the title is often enough to find it.
  • Use a consistent naming convention for related maps, such as including the project name, client, or course. This makes your search results more predictable.
  • If you have many maps, combine descriptive titles with tags to keep your workspace organized. While search helps you locate maps by title, tags provide another way to categorize your work.
  • Rename maps as projects evolve so their titles continue to reflect their content and are easier to find later.

Common questions

Can I search for part of a map name?

Yes. You can enter part of a map's title, and Mindmup will display matching results.

Can I search the contents of a map?

The Search box on the Home dashboard searches map titles to help you locate maps in your library.

Why can't I find my map?

Make sure you've entered the correct map title or part of the title. If you still can't find the map, check that it hasn't been renamed, moved, or deleted.
