Overview
Your maps are stored and organized from the Mindmup Home page. From there, you can open maps, find recently edited work, manage shared maps, organize content into teams, and perform actions such as renaming, duplicating, moving, sharing, exporting, or deleting maps.
Whether you're working alone or collaborating with others, understanding how to manage your maps helps keep your workspace organized and makes it easier to find important information when you need it.
How to Use It
Open a map
- Go to the Mindmup Home page.
- Browse your maps in one of the available sections:
- My Maps – maps you own.
- Shared with Me – maps others have shared with you.
- All Maps – all maps you can access.
- Recent – recently opened maps.
- Starred – maps you've marked as important.
- Teams – maps organized within a team.
3. Click a map to open it.
You can also select the map's Actions menu and choose Open or Open in New Tab.
Find a map
If you have many maps, use the search box at the top of the Home page.
- Click the search field.
- Type at least two characters from the map name.
- Select the map from the results.
Sort and filter maps
Use the available filters to quickly locate maps.
You can sort by:
- Last viewed
- Last modified
- Date created
- Alphabetical order
You can also filter by:
- Team
- Tags
- Untagged maps
Switch between grid and list views
Mindmup provides two viewing options:
- Grid View for a visual layout.
- List View for detailed information such as creation date, last modified date, owner, and sharing status.
Choose the view that works best for your workflow.
Manage a map
Open the map's Actions menu to access common management options.
Available actions include:
- Open
- Open in new tab
- Copy map link
- Share
- Star or unstar
- Rename
- Duplicate
- Edit tags
- Show version history
- Move to another team
- Export
- Move to trash
Many of these actions can be performed without opening the map first.
Example Use Cases
Keep project maps organized
Create separate maps for different projects and move them into dedicated teams so everyone can find the right information.
Quickly access important work
Star frequently used maps to keep them available from the Starred section.
Find older maps
Use sorting and filtering options to locate maps based on when they were created or last modified.
Review previous changes
Open Version History to restore an earlier version or save it as a new map.

- Use tags to group related maps across different projects or teams.
- Star maps you access regularly.
- Move completed projects into dedicated teams to reduce clutter.
- Use the search feature instead of manually browsing when working with many maps.
- Switch to List View when you need more details about map ownership or modification dates.
Common Questions
What's the difference between My Maps and Shared with Me?
My Maps contains maps you own. Shared with Me contains maps owned by other users that have been shared with you.
Can I organize maps into teams?
Yes. Use the Move option from the map's Actions menu to move a map into a team.
Can I open a map in a new browser tab?
Yes. Open the map's Actions menu and select Open in New Tab.
How do I find a map quickly?
Use the search box at the top of the Home page and enter part of the map name.
What happens when I move a map to trash?
The map is removed from your active workspace and can be found in the Trash section until it is permanently removed.
