Overview
Version History lets you view previous versions of a map and restore an earlier version if needed. It's a useful way to recover changes, compare revisions, or save an older version as a separate map without affecting your current work.
Each version includes a timeline, making it easy to browse your map's history and return to an earlier state when necessary. You can also copy a link to a specific version or export it for reference.
Open Version History from the Home dashboard
1. Go to the Home dashboard.
2. Find the map you want to review.
3. Right-click the map and select Show version history.
4. Browse the version timeline.
5. Click a version to view it.

1. Open the map.
2. Click the Mindmup icon in the top-left corner.
3. Click File > Show version history.

Restore a previous version
- Open the map.
- Click the Mindmup icon in the top-left corner.
- Select File › Show version history.
- In the Version History panel, find the version you want to restore.
- Click the Actions (three-dot) menu next to that version.
- Select Restore this version.
Save a previous version as a new map
- Open the map.
- Click the Mindmup icon in the top-left corner.
- Select File › Show version history.
- Find the version you want to save.
- Click the Actions (three-dot) menu next to the version.
- Select Save as new map.
Copy or export a version
- Open the map.
- Click the Mindmup icon in the top-left corner.
- Select File › Show version history.
- Find the version you want to use.
- Click the Actions (three-dot) menu next to the version.
- Select Copy link to copy a link to that version, or Export to export that version of the map.

Version History is useful when you want to:
- Restore a map after making unwanted changes.
- Recover an earlier version of a project.
- Compare revisions over time.
- Save an older version as a separate map before continuing your work.

Tips
- Before making significant changes, remember that you can always return to an earlier version if needed.
- Use Save as new map when you want to branch your work while preserving the current version.
- If you only need to reference an older version, use Copy link instead of restoring it.
- Review the version timeline before restoring a version to make sure you've selected the correct one.
Common questions
Will restoring a version delete my current map?
Restoring a version returns the map to the selected version. If you'd like to preserve your current work, consider using Save as new map instead.
Can I keep an older version without replacing the current one?
Yes. Select Save as new map to create a separate copy of that version.
Can I export an older version of my map?
Yes. Each version includes an Export option in its Actions (three-dot) menu.
Can I share a specific version?
Yes. Use Copy link from the version's Actions (three-dot) menu to copy a link to that version.
