Overview
If you accidentally changed something in your Mindmup map, you may be able to undo the change or restore an earlier version of the map.
For a recent change, use Undo. If you need to go back to an earlier saved version, use Version history.
How to Undo a Change
If you just made the change, click the Undo icon in the bottom-right corner of the map.
You can also use Ctrl + Z on Windows or Cmd + Z on macOS.
Mindmup also provides Redo if you undo a change and then decide you want to apply it again.
Use Version History for an older change
If the change is no longer covered by your recent undo actions, use Version history to find an earlier version of the map.
Click the Mindmup icon in the top-left corner, then select File › Show version history.
You can also open Show version history from the map list on the Home dashboard by right-clicking the map.
Version history shows a timeline of previous versions. Open the three-dot menu for the version you want and choose Restore this version.
If you want to keep the current version while creating a separate map from an earlier version, you can choose Save as new map instead.
Example Use Cases
You accidentally deleted a node
Use Undo immediately after deleting the node. If the change is older, use Version history to find a version from before the deletion.
You changed the map structure by mistake
If you made several changes and want to return to an earlier version, use Version history and restore the appropriate version.
You restored the wrong version
If you want to keep an earlier version without replacing the current map, use Save as new map from the version's menu.
Tips
- Use Undo as soon as you notice an accidental change.
- If you need to recover an older version, check Version history rather than repeatedly undoing changes.
- Before restoring a version, check the version timeline so you select the version you actually need.
- Use Save as new map when you want to preserve the current map while creating a separate map from an earlier version.
