Renaming a map makes it easier to find, organize, and identify your work later. Whether you're updating a project name, clarifying a topic, or replacing a temporary title, Mindmup lets you rename maps at any time.

You can rename a map directly from the editor or from the Home page without opening the map.

  3. Enter the new name.
  4. Press Enter or click outside the title field to save the change.

Rename a map from the Home page

  1. Go to the Home page.
  2. Find the map you want to rename.

  4. Select Rename.
  5. Enter the new name and confirm the change.

Example use cases

You might rename a map when:

  • A project changes direction or scope.
  • You want to replace a temporary title such as "Untitled Project."
  • You're organizing maps for a class, team, or client.
  • You need a clearer name to make searching easier.
  • You're creating multiple versions of the same project and want to distinguish them.

Tips

  • Use descriptive names so maps are easy to find later.
  • Include project names, subjects, or dates when managing many maps.
  • Establish a consistent naming convention if you're working with a team.
  • Rename maps as soon as their purpose becomes clear to keep your workspace organized.

Ready to rename your maps?

Take a moment to review your existing maps and make sure their names clearly describe their purpose. A good title can make it much easier to find the right map later, especially as your collection grows.

If you're starting a new project or revisiting an older one, try giving your map a clear, descriptive name that will still make sense weeks or months from now.
