Overview
Teams are separate spaces within your Mindmup account for organizing maps around a group, project, or area of work. You can create and name teams, organize their maps, customize their appearance, manage members, and remove teams you no longer need.
The Teams section also lets you search for teams and access team management options from each team’s 3-dot menu.
Create a team
From the Home dashboard:
- Click your profile avatar.
- Select Account.
- Open Teams.
- Click + New team.
- Enter a team name.
- Click Create team.
Click Cancel if you decide not to create the team.
Use a name that clearly identifies the group or purpose of the team. This makes it easier to find the right team later.
Manage a team
The Teams section includes Search teams and a list of your teams. Each team shows its name, role, and members. A 3-dot menu beside each team provides management options.

- All maps
- My maps
You can also sort maps by last modified, last viewed, alphabetical order, or date created. Filter maps by tags and switch between grid and list views.
Rename a team

Change a team's color
Select Change color the team's 3-dot menu to customize the team's appearance. You can choose a color swatch, set the color for everyone, or upload an image.
Copy a team link
Select Copy team link from the team's 3-dot menu when you need to share or save the team's link.
Manage team members
Select Manage members to control which account members have access to the team. Team members can have different permissions within each team.
For detailed instructions, see Managing Team Members.
Delete a team
To delete a team:
- Open the team's 3-dot menu.
- Select Delete team.
- Enter the team name in the confirmation box.
- Click Delete team.
Click Cancel to stop the deletion.
Understand team roles
Team roles control what a member can do within a specific team. They are separate from the person's account role. For example, an account Member can still be a Team Admin in one team.
- Can view: Can view all maps within the team but cannot edit them.
- Can edit: Can view and edit all maps within the team.
- Team Admin: Can manage the team's members, roles, and maps, but not the overall account.
When a map is shared with an entire team, each member's access comes from their team role.
Example use cases
Teams can help you:
- Keep project maps together in one dedicated space.
- Separate maps for different departments or groups.
- Give different people different levels of access to a team's maps.
- Organize several groups within the same account.
